SureType® keyboard technology combines a traditional phone keypad and a familiar QWERTY-based keyboard to create an efficient and familiar typing experience.

SureType allows you to quickly and accurately dial or type without the limitations of traditional phone keypads. Since the software understands what you're typing, you can concentrate on composing your message rather than on the input method. You can also easily switch to the multi-tap input method when desired.
Default Word List

To help facilitate easy spelling and typing, SureType includes a word list of over 35,000 words and the ability to increase that list based on the frequency of use, and the names and addresses in the smartphone's address book. It will even check your spelling as you type!
Your Custom Word List

To add to the initial word list, you may load industry-specific word lists, such as finance/business, medical and legal. New words are also extracted from your incoming email messages and automatically added to your custom word list.

Hi,

Is SureType available for a Blackberry Bold with a QWERT Key Board, if not how can it be activated.

I don't believe it is available. I think that feature is only for the BB Pearl.

Surprising how a supposedly better phone does not have this simple and effective feature, is there some way it can be added and or made active for the bold

The reason it is not available is because it has the full qwerty keyboard. The full qwerty is much better than the suretype feature is anyways. The pearl has the suretype because it is too small to effectively have a full qwerty keyboard.

its not possible. suretype isnt just the software using t9 qwerty, its the actual physical keys and its predictions.  it is not available for qwerty devices, i do prefer to have suretype as well, as i am a former 7100g and 8100 user. buti sucked it up for the curve, 8820, and now the bold.
